"Yvonne has such power in her voice while singing from her heart with joy and passion"

The Story So Far...

From a young age Yvonne loved to sing and write her own songs. One of her earliest songs was written about the family dog, a spaniel named Casey. Although Yvonne was incredibly shy she sang this song to her teachers at school. From that moment on, a star was born....

Well, not quite...

As previously mentioned, Yvonne was incredibly shy and she found the whole 'singing in front of the teachers' thing a tad traumatising, so she decided to perhaps leave this singing idea for a while and focus on just fitting in and doing 'normal' things.

The years ticked by and Yvonne turned 21, but that singing idea hadn't given up space in her mind. So she began classical vocal training, eventually passing the Trinity College Grade 3 exam with Merit, an achievement that boosted her confidence, just a little.

Despite the training, however, classical singing didn't really excite her, so the following year she and a friend formed a rock band and she started singing cover songs. Despite feeling terrified at the first gig, it started getting easier as more gigs followed.

So, you may wonder, when did she start writing songs again?

It was during her time in the band as we were all feeling the urge to move beyond being a typical covers band and do originals instead. So Yvonne started creating lyrics and melodies again and these got worked into songs, with one even making it to a local radio station via a competition.

And then a star was born?

Umm, no. The band broke up and the songs were left languishing in a heap of demo tapes and lyric folders somewhere in a bottom drawer.

But several years and a duo or two later, Yvonne was prompted by a previous bandmate to revisit those songs and let them be heard in all their glory. A studio session was booked, musicians were organised and hired, and tracks for seven original songs were recorded.

Yvonne is now in the process of mixing and re-working these songs so that she can honour each one with the sound and energy it is wishing to portray. She feels inspired by her spiritual beliefs and personal journey, as well as her English ancestry, incorporating various instruments from the medieval era into many of her songs.

But there is one song that has been recorded entirely by Yvonne herself, and that is The Book. This song is about finding your inner strength and self worth in order to turn over a new leaf, so it felt right that her energy should weave its way through it all as she embraces this new chapter in her life.
